Fraternalism
To us, it’s not just a word, it’s a call to action. The UTUIA, through our fraternal units across the country, seeks to improve our communities through charitable giving and volunteer activities.  We are indeed an organization that believes strongly in our fraternal mission and we strive everyday to make our communities better places to live.

Charitable Giving
Throughout the year, our fraternal units organize various fund raising activities that help support charities which serve the greater good of the community at large.  To read about the charities we support, click here.

Scholarship Funds
The UTUIA is a firm supporter of higher education and we are well aware of the high cost associated with that investment.  Therefore, The UTUIA has paid out over 1.8 million in funds to students over the years.  To learn more about our many scholarships and instructions on how to apply, click here

UTUIA Fraternal Lodges
Are you looking for a way to serve your community and get the support you need to do it?  Then perhaps organizing a UTUIA Lodge could be an option.  Our Lodges are volunteer organizations that work under the UTUIA to serve the brotherhood and community at large.  By working together with fellow transportation employees and spouses, we can build bonds and friendships that can last a lifetime.  So, if you are already volunteering or you are looking for a great way to get started, let us help you by providing the support and advise you need to succeed!  The story of giving continues!

Jayme O’Neill is a policyholder of a life policy since she was a baby. She is my niece . She goes to Kenston High School and will be a Senior she is 17 years old. She plays soccer for Kenston and a travel team that will go to Florida in July for the National title. Her sister Mary also a policyholder and winner of UTUIA scholarship have been in 4-H for years. This is her third year heading up the food drive prior to that Mary was in charge. Look at the letter it really tells it all. Lodge 1 and UTUIA
Have also participated by donating money. I have contributed good money and helped st the church the bank. I have also taken items to the Geauga Food bank with my sister Heidi.

Sincerely, Marilyn Spangler

Wow, we are making a difference!

Jayme O’Neill has a life policy with UTUIA. She is also a member of Lodge 1 in North Olmsted. Her 4-H group for years collects food for Geauga Hunger Task Force along with money. They have a Dr Augustine Kellis that will match up to $25000.00 a year to what the Green Fields 4-H Food Drive raises. Last year donations totaled over $35,000. He pays $1.00 for each $1.00 raised and 50 cents on each food item. Last year and other years the kids put boxes out everywhere in the neighborhood. This year because of the COVID-19 virus there was a lot of thing they couldn’t do. So in June Jayme her sister Mary and her Mom Heidi went on their neighborhood app and put an email out. They asked the neighbors if they could leave food on their porch on a certain Saturday. The three of them went up and down developments collecting food and money. They had a great response. They also wrote letters and called businesses to donate money. UTUIA Lodge 1 donated $100.00 and UTUIA matched it. Now that $200.00 turns into $400.00. Then on Friday last week First National Bank let them use their parking lot to collect food and money. It was a busy intersection so when the light changed the kids could go up to the cars. They collected over $500.00 and 500 items that day. Jayme and 2 other teenagers from Greener fields food drive helped. Also, one of the advisers from 4-H along with Heidi O’Neill and Marilyn Spangler both members of Lodge 1.Jayme also collected food from her soccer team and some of the coaches and other sport players from Kenston High School The drive ends on August 20th but for a drive that didn’t look possible this year. They have to date raised $12,281.27 and 1790 items so the match of $12,281.27 and $895.00 totals $25,457.54.

On Friday Jayme, Heidi and Marilyn took the 500 items to Chagrin Falls Park Community Center one of the Pantry’s from The Hunger Task Force. They were quite happy with the collection. They did social distancing along with wearing masks. Jayme and Sam are both sophomores. Dennis was a senior. Normally more would help from 4-H but it is hard to get people together right now.
