A Message from President Laugel regarding the Covid-19 pandemic:

Dear Friends,

As you know, we are in the midst of one of the most prolific viral infections we have seen in modern history.  While this has caused many members to  alter lifestyles and make difficult personal and economic choices, I want you to know that UTUIA is here for you and your family.  As we have for 152 years, we are ready to serve and have worked diligently to ensure that all departments are fully functional.

Of paramount concern is the safety of our employees as well as our members and their families.   As a result, we have been able to quickly establish secure connections to allow our home office employees to work from home and only report to the office as needed.  While this may be a change in the way we perform daily activities, it will have little effect on the quality of service we will provide.  One change you may notice will be the automated receptionist. By dialing the number 2 option, you will be directed to UTUIA. Listen for the prompt for the department you are trying to reach. These steps, although unprecedented,  are all part of a disaster recovery and business continuation plan we have been working on for the last 4 years.

The stay at home orders have required a shift in the way our agents and Field Supervisors conduct  business and service our members.  Field Supervisors are able to take applications for insurance, obtain necessary signatures and electronically submit the applications which allows everyone to stay safe and comply with government orders and best practices.  When your coverage is approved, we will securely email your documents for final signature.  Your Field Supervisor may be calling you but if you need more immediate assistance, please reach out.

In summary, we have in place the most modern of administration and application systems in the insurance industry backed by an experienced staff  and our mission is, as it has been for 152 years, to ensure that every member and their family is protected.
