Our Field Supervisors are here to serve the brotherhood and to provide support, education and service to the members of the UTUIA. Learn more about each of them below.
Serge was born in Montreal and immigrated to California in the late 50’s travelling to Los Angeles on the Super Chief. He never imagined at that time that one day he would be working on the Santa Fe. He served in the US Army for 3 years. He first came to the railroad in 1977 as a laborer and the next year established brakeman/switchman seniority as well as joining the UTU.
Serge is a proud 2nd generation Field Supervisor since 1989. His father, who worked as a bus operator and later as a Field Supervisor and leader, urged him to accept the position of Field Supervisor as he was nearing retirement. That torch was passed over 26 years ago and Serge remains loyal and devoted to providing for the unique needs of the Brothers and Sisters of the UTUIA. He has 2 grown sons and lives in California.
Chris joined the UTUIA in 2002 as a Local Ins. Rep. while working as a CSX Freight Conductor in Rocky Mount, NC. In 2005, Chris accepted the opportunity to serve as an Asst. Field Supervisor and was promoted to Field Supervisor in 2008. Chris is a Disabled Veteran as a result of his service to his country from 1987 – 1992. It is through that deeper understanding of the financial and emotional needs, that often come with being sick or disabled, that drives Chris to consistently seek out better ways to serve his Union Brothers, Sisters and their families. Chris currently resides in Nashville, NC with wife Angela and 2 daughters. His motto is a simple one: “treat others as you’d expect to be treated, with compassion and understanding.”
Greg is a third generation railroader coming off of the Norfolk Southern railroad. He is also a retired professional firefighter. Greg joined the UTUIA in 2008 and is a second generation Field Supervisor, having followed in his father’s footsteps. He has a strong commitment to serve his Brothers and Sisters by protecting their families and securing their savings. When asked, Greg will tell you he is NASCAR’s number one fan but, what he has no hesitation telling anyone is that his Dad is his hero.
